The Love of the Rider... What is this about?

The love of a rider, came out of my kids wanting to learn how to ride horses.

Before I get into details about getting your kids into riding, first a little about me. My name is Kim, I am a mother of 2, Liam (15) and Kat (12). Kat has become my true rider and Liam prefers to ride for fun. I grew up in a more rural area and had friends with horses. I was exposed to horses at an early age. I believe my first time on horseback; I was about 5 years old (his name was Peanut). I took lessons and rode both English and Western. I participated in 4-H with both a horse and a rabbit. I rode and took care of my friend’s horses when I was old enough too and when they were out of town. The horse I took care, I knew from the day he was born to the day he left this earth. His name was Nikki. I was there the day he was born. He didn’t always want to do what I wanted but he was always a gentle giant.

I have become familiar with all things horse, due to my childhood, but I am new to competing on a higher level. Through the past couple of years of my daughter competing, I have noticed that many parents do not have a background in riding and caring for a horse and I want to help all the non-horse parents get insight into this world. I am here to help navigate this new barn world of large animals (sometimes stinky.)

I am here to help you understand what you are getting into everything from time to a financial standpoint. I will be a source to help you get to know what things are at the barn to the things being said to your child as they ride.

My daughter is a Hunter/Jumper, and this will be where I focus my knowledge. I will also be working with our trainers to help give insight into the words being heard at practice and around the barn. I will help you understand things related to the horse and items used on or for horses including equipment, saddles, grooming, training, horse health etc.

So welcome to the journey of horsemanship and all things horsey!
