Getting Started with Horse Competitions
Horse competitions can be a delightful adventure, starting from the basics and gradually galloping up to the big leagues! Most riders begin their journey by trotting over some friendly little poles on the ground—no need to leap over daunting fences just yet. It's all about taking those baby steps (or hooves!) before soaring to higher heights.
What to Wear
Now, let's talk about the fashion! Riders typically don a snazzy blue or black show coat, white show shirt, paired with tan riding pants that scream "I mean business!" Some have garters which are for the younger riders and go over the pants with a leather strap and finish off the look with paddock boots Another option is paddock boots with half chaps that give the illusion of tall boots both stylish and functional (much less expensive)! Perfect for just starting.
The Waiting Game
Once you're all decked out, it's time to ride in the class where you'll strut your stuff. But hold your horses! There might be some waiting involved, which could start bright and early or stretch out throughout the day. It’s all part of the experience, and who knows, you might even make some new friends while waiting for your turn. Good luck out there—just remember, it’s all about having fun and enjoying the ride! And bonus if you come home with ribbons.
